Are You Up for the Challenge? NJSGA Caddie Scholarship 1947 Challenge

KENILWORTH, N.J. - The season of giving is here, and the New Jersey State Golf Association Caddie Scholarship Foundation is gearing up for the 1947 Challenge on Giving Tuesday, an annual opportunity for members of the NJSGA community to give back and support caddies seeking higher education.

In honor of the founding of the NJSGA CSF in 1947, we invite you to consider a donation of $19.47 in support of our mission to inspire and transform lives through the gift of education.

“The golf community in New Jersey can be extremely proud of its long-standing tradition of generosity and commitment to providing educational opportunities for young men and women,” says Jeff Knapp, Director of Development for the NJSGA’s Caddie Scholarship Foundation.

Through generous donations from individuals, corporations, foundations, and clubs, $801,000 in scholarships were awarded for the 2023-24 academic year to 150 scholars.

“In 2022, the NJSGA community contributed $1.3 million to provide scholarships to caddies pursuing college education and I invite golfers and friends of the game to ‘keep the caddie in golf’ and begin the season of giving by making a gift in support of the Caddie Scholarship Foundation,” Knapp expressed.

Giving Tuesday is global movement that encourages people to do good and support deserving causes and organizations. By participating in #GivingTuesday, you are supporting the caddies, their experiences and education in the Garden State.

The NJSGA Caddie Scholarship Foundation has been a shining light for over 76 years in providing financial assistance to deserving member club caddies pursuing higher education. Since 1947, it has provided more than 3,400 scholarships totaling more than $18 million. Caddie scholars are selected based on their academic performance, financial need, and length and quality of service as a caddie. Scholarships are renewable for up to four years of undergraduate study.

The 150 Caddie Scholars for the academic year 2023-24 represent 84 colleges and universities.

The NJSGA accepts Visa, MasterCard and Discover credit cards for online donations. For donations greater than $5,000, please contact Jeffrey Knapp at 908-241-4653. Please note that the Caddie Scholarship Foundation is a 501(c)(3) registered charity and therefore all contributions are fully deductible for income tax purposes.

Giving Tuesday was created in 2012 as an American day of philanthropy and giving in response to the consumerism of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Over the past 11 years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate and celebrate generosity.
