All Girls Invited To Play In Lpga/usga Invitational At Galloping Hill

Girls of all ages are invited to participate in the first LPGA/USGA Girls Golf Invitational on Monday, August 4, at Galloping Hill Golf Course in Kenilworth. The event benefits LPGA/USGA Girls Golf of Greater Newark and includes beginner and advanced flights (by age group) at minimal fees.

The competition will be open for girls between the ages of 7 to 17 and will include an 18-hole championship as well as 9-hole flights based upon age and skill levels. The fee for 18-hole participants players is just $25, and $15 for 9-hole golfers and includes lunch.

Carts are not available and parents may NOT caddie for their daughters.

The event is a program of Renaissance Junior Golf, Inc, and is supported by the New Jersey State Golf Association, Galloping Hill Golf Course, Union County and the New Jersey Section of the PGA.

“This event will further the mission of Greater Newark’s Girls Golf effort to grow the game of golf through the inclusion of girls. We are pleased and excited that the NJSGA is supporting this opportunity for girls throughout the region to engage in a friendly competition while making new friends, having fun and learning lifelong skills,” said Beverly Harrison, program director of LPGA/USGA Girls Golf of Greater Newark.

The Divisions include two for 18-hole players:

Junior Miss Division, ages 15 to 18, and Girl’s Division, ages 14 and under.. Tee times for 18-holers begin at 8 a.m.

Nine-hole Divisions, with tee times beginning at 9 a.m., are:

Junior Miss Division: ages 15-17; Girl’s Division, ages 11-14, and Beginners Division, Ages 7-14.

LPGA/USGA Girls Golf of Greater Newark is a junior golf program that gives girls the chance to learn to play the game of golf and make new friends have fun and learn lifelong skills. They also engage in activities that build confidence, character and self-discipline as well as sample competition in a positive and supportive learning environment.
