5th South Jersey Cup at Hidden Creek Caps 2023 NJSGA Tournament Season

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP, N.J. - The the 5th South Jersey Cup will be held on Monday, November 3 at Hidden Creek Golf Club in Egg Harbor Township. This 18-hole, stroke play competition for both women and men features a new venue for 2023, moving to the exclusive Hidden Creek Golf Club. As usual, the South Jersey Cup is one of the NJSGA’s most anticipated late season events and features a field of over 100 competitors. 

Ranked as the No. 19 Best Golf Course in New Jersey for 2023-24 according to Golf Digest, Hidden Creek is sure to be a true test of golf for South Jersey Cup competitors.  

Designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw in 2002, Hidden Creek is highlighted by wide fairways and alluring woodlands. Hidden Creek is one of top courses in the region and a part of the Dormie Network, an exclusive private golf club network across the country.  

This 18-hole, stroke play competition consists of divisions for both women and men. In the women’s competition, there will be both gross and net scoring. For the men’s competition, there will be gross scoring with a Mid-Amateur flight (age 25+) and Senior flight (age 55+), in addition to the overall tournament. 

Most notably, the men’s overall gross champion and men’s Mid-Amateur champion will receive an exemption into the 2024 New Jersey Amateur Championship and 2024 New Jersey Mid-Amateur Championship.  

The maximum handicap limit for the women is 35.0; The maximum handicap limit for the men’s Amateur and Mid-Amateur divisions is 10.0, and 15.0 for the men’s Senior division. 

Proceeds from the event will fund the Gail Reilly Scholarship Program which awards two, $2000 scholarships to a male and female South Jersey golfer that is attending college. This year, the New Jersey Caddie Scholarship Foundation will be matching the $2,000 award. Reilly was a former president of the defunct South Jersey Golf Association, which conducted tournaments in southern New Jersey from 1946-2018.
