2025 NJSGA Tournament Lineup Announced
KENILWORTH, N.J. - The New Jersey State Golf Association (NJSGA) announced its 2025 event schedule, a 24-championship slate that features notable venues for the six New Jersey major championships; highlighted by stops at three founding member clubs to honor the 125th anniversary of the organization.
"2025 marks a historic year for the NJSGA and we look forward to adding to the history with a great lineup of championship sites," said Brad Bardon, Director of Championships. "Three of our majors will be returning to founding clubs, including the Amateur, which heads back to the place it all began - Essex County Country Club. This season also marks the 100th playing of the Women’s Amateur, which will surely be a memorable championship for all contestants. The milestone year also brings with it something new, as we add the Parent-Child Championship to our list of playing opportunities for New Jersey golfers. We can’t wait for the season to arrive!"
The 2025 major championship season will tee off at North Jersey Country Club for the 93rd Four-Ball Championship from May 12-14. With recent renovations that feature significant tree and bunker removal, North Jersey has evolved into a contemporary championship golf course that boasts plenty of rugged terrain and historic lineaments for duos in the highly skilled pool of competitors.
The 42nd Mid-Amateur Championship will head to Morris County Golf Club, one of the top-ranked courses in New Jersey according to Golf Digest. Checking in at No. 21, Morris County has also undergone some recent work. With bunkers that guard greens and require precision among the quirky fairways, Morris County will serve as a tough test for males ages 25 and up from June 3-5.
From July 8-10, the longest-standing championship at the NJSGA will be contested at Essex County Country Club. The 124th Amateur Championship, presented by Provident Bank, will return to the newly renovated club after a 25-year hiatus. Having hosted the inaugural New Jersey Amateur in 1900, the West Orange club has been the site of nine previous editions. The champion will earn an exemption to compete at the 125th U.S. Amateur Championship at The Olympic Club in California.
The 100th playing of the New Jersey Women’s Amateur will be held at Hackensack Golf Club from July 15-17. A Charles Banks design, Hackensack presents tree-lined fairways, deep bunkers and large greens with undulating greens. Checking in at No. 23 on Golf Digest’s top-ranked golf courses in New Jersey, Hackensack will serve as host of the Women’s Amateur for the second time in NJSGA history. The winner will earn an exemption into the 125th U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Oregon.
The month of July will conclude with the 105th Open Championship, presented by Donnelly Industries, taking place at Hamilton Farm Golf Club from July 22-24. Hosting its first New Jersey Open Championship, Hamilton Farm will be a tough test for both amateur and professional golfers from around the Garden State. Equipped for long hitters, Hamilton Farm has made adjustments to their tee boxes, adding significant length to the course over the last several years. Ranked No. 18 in Golf Digest’s top golf courses in New Jersey, Hamilton Farm was designed and built in 2001 by Dana Fry, the same architect who designed Union League National in Cape May.
The final major championship of the season, the 3rd Women’s Open will be contested at The Bedens Brook Club from August 12-13. Undergoing several significant changes to the course, Bedens Brook has restored more closely to its orignial Dick Wilson design. Fierce competition will be exhibited through the high leveled amateurs and professionals.
Beginning in 2024, the United States Golf Association (USGA) made significant changes to qualifying for four of their most prestigious championships: the U.S. Amateur, the U.S. Women’s Amateur, the U.S. Junior Amateur, and the U.S. Girls’ Junior. In 2025, New Jersey has earned exemptions to all four championships. Utilizing a three-year rolling average of their World Amateur Golf Ranking® (WAGR) power ranking, all events are evaluated each fall for the following year.
Also new to the 2025 schedule is the inaugural Parent-Child Championship, which will be held at Preakness Hills Country Club on June 23.
