In January, the New Jersey State Golf Association’s esteemed Caddie Scholarship Foundation and the Western Golf Association’s (WGA) acclaimed ESF announced its partnership that will serve the youth in New Jersey with added opportunities and college scholarships as well as bolster New Jersey caddie scholarship funding.
In February, seven deserving caddies from New Jersey received a full housing and tuition college grant. NJSGA Evans Scholars are chosen based on displaying a strong caddie record, excellent academics, financial need and outstanding character. Candidates must meet the qualifications of both organizations in order to earn the scholarship. There are currently 15 NJSGA Evans Scholars in school this year.
The NJSGA Caddie Scholarship Foundation has been a shining light for over 74 years in providing financial assistance to deserving member club caddies pursuing higher education. Since 1947, it has provided more than $16 million in college scholarship awards to nearly 3,100 caddies. For the 2021-22 academic year, the Foundation will provide 157 caddies with over $665,000 in scholarships. Caddie scholars are selected based on their academic performance, financial need, and length and quality of service as a caddie. Scholarships are renewable for up to four years of undergraduate study. The 157 Caddie Scholars for the academic year 2021-22 represent 81 colleges.
