Championship Information
The NJ Women’s Open is a thirty-six (36) hole, Stroke Play championship consisting of eighteen (18)-holes on day 1 and eighteen (18)-holes on day 2. Players will be repaired for Round 2, based on Round 1 scores, and tee times will be announced approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of Round 1. The Champion will be the player with the lowest 36-hole score. In the event of a tie for the championship, a hole-by-hole playoff will be held to determine the champion.
The championship field will be limited to 78 contestants with 46 positions reserved for professionals and 32 positions reserved for amateurs. In the case that either of the categories isn’t filled, those positions will become open to players on the waiting list. If amateur entries are oversold, the field of amateurs will be sorted by Handicap Index and the lowest will be added to the field with the remaining put on a waitlist. Additionally, there will be a senior leaderboard for professionals and amateurs ages fifty (50) and above as of the start of the event. All competitors will play the same set of tees.
ELIGIBILITY:
- Female professional golfers
- Female amateur golfers who meet ALL of the following:
- Entrant must possess UNQUESTIONABLE Amateur Status.
- Entrant must meet ALL of these Handicap and Membership Requirements:
- Hold a USGA Handicap Index of 9.6 or less, at the close of entries, through a NJSGA member club/course. She must be listed on this club’s Handicap Roster.
- Maintain good standing and remain on the above Handicap Roster through the Championship proper.
- If entering from a public facility, or Club Without Real Estate, entrant must be a permanent resident of New Jersey. Proof of residency may be required.
Transportation: Motorized transportation is PROHIBITED throughout this Championship.
Caddies: Permitted; a player may bring her own caddie, reserve a caddie, or carry her own bag.
Pull/Push Carts: TBA. Refer to specific Notice to Players for host club’s policy.
Prizes: The Women’s Open Championship Trophy will be presented to the Champion, and engraved with her name. Total purse is $20,000; winner's share is $TBA. The Champion and Low Amateur will receive keepsake glassware, and the size/composition of the field will determine the full breakdown of the professional purse and amateur merchandize certificates. The low senior professional and low senior amateur will be recognized.
FINAL DECISION REGARDING ACCEPTANCE OF ENTRIES IS AT THE DISCRETION OF THENJSGA. THE NJSGA RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REJECT OR WITHDRAW AN ENTRY AT ANY TIME, BEFORE OR DURING A COMPETITION OR MODIFY THE CHAMPIONSHIP PROGRAM ANYTIME, IN ITS DISCRETION.
