Sibling Duo, Samantha and Tyler Galantini Cruise to 58th Mixed Pinehurst Championship
MAPLEWOOD, N.J. - The sibling duo of Samantha Galantini and Tyler Galantini claimed the 58th Mixed Pinehurst Championship on August 1 at Maplewood Country Club. The Montclair Golf Club bested the field by seven strokes, firing a 8-under par 63.
The Galantini’s turned in a blemish-free scorecard, collecting eight birdies en route to their victory.
“It was a lot of fun,” Samantha said. “We play golf together all the time but actually getting to play in an actual tournament, it was really fun. It was good vibes out there.”
Samantha, 19, is headed to the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship in Oklahoma from August 5-11. Tyler, 22, just closed out his college career at Wagner University.
“We have our off days where we are going to go at each other but today was a great day,” Tyler said jokingly. “It might have been the first time ever we both had our putter rolling so that definitely helped and it was fun to play well.”
Tyler is a former NJSGA champion, winning the 2017 W.Y. Dear Boys Championship.
“It’s amazing,” Tyler added. “It’s the 58th time this championship has been held and it’s awesome to be one of those champions.”
Andrew Hurley and Kathy Bartsche finished behind the champions, turning in a 1-under par 70. They also finished as the top overall net scorers with a 7-under par 64.
Another sibling duo in Harris Podvey and Marcia Podvey took home the Senior Mixed Pinehurst. They finished with a 3-over par 74.
